So this is a different piece — the buyer’s framework we’d hand a friend evaluating us against three competitors, with the 12 questions to ask and the red flags to walk away from. We mention ourselves last, on purpose.
The 12 questions to ask any chat agency
How is your team trained, and can I see the curriculum? How are chatters assigned to creators? What’s your QA scoring system? Can I see a real chatter conversation (redacted)? What’s your pricing model — flat retainer, share of total revenue, or share of new revenue? What’s the contract length and notice period? Who owns my fan data and voice doc when we part? How do you handle ToS compliance? Do you use AI, and at which step? How quickly can you onboard? Will I have a dedicated account manager? Can you show me 3 case studies with real numbers?
If an agency can’t answer 10 of these clearly, walk away.
Pricing benchmarks across the industry
Flat retainer agencies: $2K–$10K/mo, often plus 10–15% commission. Avoid unless you have very specific reasons.
Share-of-total-revenue agencies: 25–45% of all OnlyFans revenue. Most common model in the industry. Misaligned because they earn even on revenue they didn’t produce.
Share-of-new-revenue agencies: 22–28% of *new* chat revenue above your starting baseline. Rare, aligned. (This is what we do.)
Hybrid models: setup fee + small percentage. Almost always net more expensive than they look.
Red flags
They promise specific revenue numbers in week one. They can’t name the chatters who will work on your account. They use AI to auto-send messages without human approval. They lock you into 6+ month contracts. They want full account credentials with no audit trail. They won’t show you their training curriculum. They refuse to put pricing in writing.
